Blackwell - The Arts and Crafts House
Blackwell was designed by Arts and
Crafts architect M H Baillie Scott as a holiday home for
Sir Edward Holt, a brewer from Manchester who was twice
Lord Mayor. Completed in 1900 this house is of international
importance, standing at the crossroads of Victorian design
and modern architecture of the 20th century.

Dove Cottage
William Wordsworth's home from 1799-1808,
his great creative period. Guided tours round the beautifully-preserved
building bring this time of 'plain living and high thinking'
back to life.

Hill Top and Beatrix Potter Gallery
Beatrix Potter wrote many of her famous
childrens stories in this little 17th-century house
and it has been kept exactly as she left it, complete with
her furniture and china. There is a traditional cottage
garden attached. A selection of her original illustrations
may be seen at the Beatrix Potter Gallery.
